Excess Salt Intake Damages the Brain

Scientists have found that if you eat a lot of salt and ignore the fittest, your heart can suffer. New studies have shown that salt has a negative effect on the human brain.

The survey of 1,200 people has shown a link between salt intake, physical inactivity and cognitive impairment. The study author Carol Greenwood used data from another survey that involved people aged from 67 to 84 years.
It resulted in a conclusion that people who eat a lot of salt and had rarely exercise, began to show poor results in tests of cognitive skills, even if they had no signs of hypertension which is usually associated with the consumption of salt. It seems that salt affects not only blood pressure but it also affects the bones and heart health in general.

Experts advise to avoid processed foods high in salt and replace them with fruits and vegetables.

The doctors point out that physical activity can help to eliminate the effects of salt intake, even without changing the diet.
